Bimbo’s Beer & Bar BQ began in 1988 as a beer joint in a single mobile home trailer, stuck behind a grove of trees somewhere between the outskirts of Houston and the small farm and ranch community of Tomball, Texas. Founder Robert “Bob” Minor served beer for 50 cents out of coolers.

A few years later Bimbo’s became a full bar and destination for local residents, bikers and Marines. Bob had every intention of putting in a kitchen and serving Bar BQ, but that dream never materialized because the bar kept expanding and there wasn’t room for a kitchen. Bob kept the name even though everyone knows the place as Bimbo’s.

Eventually, a second mobile home trailer was attached to the original bar, the parking lot was paved and a deck and outdoor seating were added. Bob and his wife Linda collected many interesting artifacts to enhance Bimbo’s interior, making the “decor” an interesting mix of objects you have to witness to appreciate.

Unfortunately, Linda passed away in 1999 and Bob in 2010. But the Minor family carries on the Bimbo’s traditions established by Bob and Linda and Bimbo’s will continue to be a destination for years to come.
